LG, Samsung to Develop Mobile DTV Standard

Several months after introducing competing and incompatible mobile DTV products, LG and Samsung have joined forces to develop a single device that will allow for digital television on cell phones.

"LG and Samsung are already world-class in digital TV and mobile communications," LG president and chief technology officer Woo Paik said in a statement. "Through this collaboration, we also have an opportunity to lead the North American mobile DTV market."

Porn Industry Not Feeling the HD DVD Love

I have faith that if anything can distract our readers from the Steve Jobs Apple porn, it's actual porn: high-definition porn.

Regardless of whether or not you want to see your favorite adult entertainers in such a crystal clear format, porn companies are releasing more and more of their titles in HD. One such company, Digital Playground, reportedly decided that it will ditch HD DVD in favor of Blu-Ray by the end of 2008, though the studio has not made any official announcements.

Last year I read a scathing Los Angeles Times profile of "Girls Gone Wild" creator Joe Francis. At the end of the article was a note that said the author of the piece covered "Hollywood and the adult entertainment industry," and I remember wondering what it would be like if my beat was porn instead of technology.
