Live from CES

January 8th, 2008

CES is remarkable! Truly overwhelming! However as I walk the floor, I find myself trying to find the small companies that have very clever technology that solve real problems that I have, and then I assume that if have them, then others have them.

Last night at the Showstoppers Event, which is a gotta go to part of CES I had an excellent conversation with the team from Simulscribe. Their product does a very simple and yet very powerful task, e.g. covert Voice-Mail on my cell phone to text and then E-Mailing me the text.

I have used a variation ...

Swimming with the OtterBox…

More about smaller ideas or…Swimming with the Otterbox…

One of the really nice products that I encountered at CES was the OtterBox. I have two iPods. A 60 gig and a 2 gig nano. Both need to lead very protected lives. The nano is a later generation model with a case that is only slightly more immune to getting trashed through normal wear and listening.

Thinking About Smaller Ideas….

February 6th, 2007

I have been mulling over the things I saw at both CES and MacWorld. It is easy to focus on products like the iPhone or the 108” LCD screen, but I have been mulling over the smaller products that I saw that solved real problems, ones that I encounter on an every day basis.

For anyone who reads my blog, they should be aware of my fondness for the products from Etymotic Research.

For about 90 days I have testing and using the Ety-8s. They are dynamite. I have been reporting back to Etymotic some ideas ...

Finding your way at CES…

January 23rd, 2007

One of the very cool devices I saw at CES was the Garmin Nuvi 370. I was dazzled by it. As I mull over all my travels, I think about the work arounds that I have had to put in place to make sure that found where I was going to, I realize how incredibly neat it would have been to have had the Nuvi.

What I have been doing is taking my tablet, putting it on the front seat of my car, Streets and Trips running, and depending on whether I had the sensor, I had some kind ...

Reality, CES and MacWorld

January 21st, 2007

It has taken me a week to recover from the surreality of going to CES and MacWorld. Over the course of the next few blog posts, I plan to write about ideas and products that I saw at both. For those who have not attended either, let me say, if you are a geek/a geek wannabe, or someone that has an interest in this space, you need to go at least once to both.

This year was my fourth trip to CES, and I can almost argue that you need to go every other year to get ...

Bluetooth Extravaganza….

January 5th, 2007

One of the excellent people that I have gotten to know is Kevin Keating! Kevin is a key guy at the Bluetooth SIG, i.e. the folks who advocate the use and adoption of the Bluetooth technology strategy and standard. Not sure how many members they have, but I keep seeing more and more cool ideas behind Bluetooth!

Kevin is putting on a big deal at CES related to Bluetooth which I plan to attend. All the info is here!

I plan to be there! So, if you see me tuned in and cordless listening to my ETY8’s, ...
