Ace Bayou unveils Wireless Audio Recliner

January 31st, 2008
by: Dan Keener
NEWS - Earlier this month at CES, I had the chance to meet with Ace Bayou and take a look at some of their new 2008 product line. At the time, I was focused on the Pro Series 4.1 rocker, but they recently announced another new product for 2008, their Xfunctional Wireless Audio Recliner. Like the Pro Series rockers, the Audio Recliner is designed to provide an optimized audio experience, whether it is for home theater, gaming or even portable electronics (like an iPod). It sports a 2.1 audio system with front forward speakers and a ... Read entire article

Broaden the Coverage?

January 30th, 2008

One of the many common themes coming from the great comments you all are leaving is in the area of broadening the content coverage. I'll address other general themes like usage scenarios with the devices we are using / testing, design layout, etc in future posts.

First area - broadening coverage: some want us to build on the "mobile" aspect of our name and include coverage beyond Tablet PCs, UMPCs, etc. Others were looking for more mobile coverage out of CES than the extensive Tablet and UMPC coverage we brought you.

Tivo and SONY to combine efforts

Tivo and SONY to combine efforts

Well, my first 'bit' of 'news' is something I picked up from a Tivo insider at the CES today.

Seems SONY and Tivo have extended their licencing agreement (see TivoToGo for PSP) with specific use in the PS3 gaming console.

An announcement is not forthcoming until E3 2008 but from what I heard SONY and Tivo will co-brand an add-on unit for approximately $100 that will bring Tivo functionality (DVR functionality) to ...

Pyramat PC Gaming Chair 2.1

Pyramat PC Gaming Chair 2.1

While lounging in your living room on a Pyramat with a console controller in both hands is relaxing, you can also get a similar Pyramat treatment with their new PC Gaming Chair 2.1. It looks like a fairly standard office chair at first glance, but one will notice two full range speakers located near the headrest and a PowerSub subwoofer for that added 'oomph' to your games. It connects to your PC sans wires thanks to an integrated digital wireless receiver. ...

Gateway Desktops Does HD DVD and Blu-ray

Gateway Desktops Does HD DVD and Blu-ray

Guess Gateway is taking the moderate path by releasing new desktops which come with a Hyper SuperMulti drive which is capable of both HD DVD and Blu-ray playback. Of course, we all know that HD DVD suffered a mortal wound back at CES '08 earlier this month but who knows how Toshiba might turn things around (fire sales notwithstanding :P). Other than that bit of news, the rest of the system specifications include AMD's Phenom quad-core processors, ...

At the Pharos booth at CES the sleek design of this navigation system attracted me like the A-dog in a litter. It stood out and beckoned to me. I couldn’t wait to receive a review unit, which just arrived, and now I have a couple hundred miles under my road-testing belt.

A Positive Review of the Nyko Wireless Nunchuk

January 30th, 2008

Wireless Nunchuk

Normally, I avoid reporting on products that get too much coverage, unless I have something different to say about it. Such is the case with the Nyko Wireless Nunchuk, a product that other gadget blogs are really bashing unnecessarily.

I had a chance to try out the Nyko Wireless Nunchuk at CES 2008, and I absolutely adored it. A lot of gadget blogs are asking whether the product is really necessary, but I say: “Of course it is! This is the new millennium, and everything is going to be wireless by the time ...

More CES Impressions

January 30th, 2008

ces-logo I’m still recovering from the Consumer Electronics Show and could probably write about it for the rest of the year. Let me share with you some of the highlights or at least what caught my attention as noteworthy.

Wi-Fi was everywhere at CES

Decent Wi-Fi access at CES was almost impossible, thanks to the teeming masses of attendees and exhibitors. For this reason, the press room had hardwire connections for the likes of me, which I appreciated greatly.

Wi-Fi was, however, ...

CoolIT keeps it cool for the new AMD card

January 30th, 2008
by: John Yan
NEWS - The guys over at CoolIT have some really great liquid cooling products from what I saw at CES. Well AMD just announced their ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 and CoolIT's liquid cooled cards were able to push the core over 900MHz and the memory to 1GHz. This card has 2 GPUs on board and the cooling system that CoolIT has devised changes the dual slot solution to a single slot solution. Granted you need the plumbing and water cooling setup but hey you free a slot by moving the cooling aspect elsewhere in the case.
