One of the “hot” new features for LCD HDTV is a 120 Hz refresh rate. Okay, it’s not all that new; I wrote about it in my CES coverage last January. But the products that include this feature are starting to show up on the shelves in even greater numbers, so I figure it’s time to review the technology.
Most LCD panels refresh the image 60 times a second. This is fast enough to eliminate any image flicker for most viewers. The problem is that the liquid crystal molecules take time to react to the electrical charges in each ...

I was surprised this morning to read my e-mail and already see a note from the Consumer Electronics Association to register for the 2008 CES. I want to at least enjoy the rest of the summer before registering for this exhausting event! But it looks like Engadget was eager to sign up, because upon registering for a badge, the editors came across an interesting footnote on the CES web site. It reads:
"Please note that an RFID tag will be imbedded in your registration badge and will not contain any ...

Mobile Tech Review has a great review on the HTC Advantage X7501 that I think you will enjoy reading. This is a device that offers a great deal of functionality in a reasonably small and powerful form factor. But remember, it is lager than the typical phone device that you are used to seeing but I will tell that after using one while at CES this past January, it quickly became a device that I wanted to add to ...
Remember the HP HDX gaming notebook, first unveiled at CES in January? Well, it's now up on the HP Web site, where it's listed as shipping.
Although it's listed at $2,999, the 20-inch monster (based on the Centrino Duo or "Santa Rosa" platform) actually weighs in at about $4,500 or so, after all the extras are factored in. If you're not into games (and large desks) you might not be interested.
As for that hinge, here's the verdict from Cisco Cheng's review in May: "The verdict is still out on how ...
