IPEvo has recently unveiled the Solo Skype phone that enables one to carry on conversations over Skype without the need for a computer, as long as one remains within the vicinity of a WiFi connection. The Solo comes with an Intel PXA 270 processor and Broadcom chipsets, and will be released in Taiwan on June 11 with the U.S. receiving their share a month later. The Society for Information Display conference is like a candy store to a techie display guy like me. It’s almost all about components and new technologies and future stuff that just over the technology horizon. But occasionally, there are commercial products worthy of note. For example, Sharp was showing their 108″ 1080p LCD TV monitor, but that’s more of a novelty than a serious product, and besides, they had shown it already at CES 2007.

Mary Jo Foley believes Microsoft is about to put its cards on the table when it comes to its PlayTable technology. If you caught the Bill Gates Keynote during CES 2006 you saw him demonstrate the technology in an impressive display where he set his cellphone on the table and was able to manipulate the data from it by using touch on the table.
