Conference Circuit

March 30th, 2007
Over the past three weeks I traveled to San Francisco, Austin Texas, San Jose and Santa Clara for four conferences.

Anyone who has met me at a conference knows that I'm the first one there at 7:30 AM checking my messages and one of the last at the late evening beer opportunities.

GDC was an amazing conference, overwhelming is the best description. There were five conferences happening concurrently and it was imposable to see everything, but I tried.  CES is the only other conference I've been to that was so jam packed with content and exhibitions ...

Delay in Nyko’s PS2 controller adapter for the PS3

March 30th, 2007
by: John Yan
NEWS - When I was at CES visiting Nyko they had a product that would have made my decision to get a PlayStation 3 sooner. Seeing as Guitar Hero is one of my favorite games, I didn't want to replace my PS2 with a PS3 just yet with the lack of controller ports on the PS3. Nyko had on display but not working an adapter to allow for PS2 controllers to work on a PS3. Golden right? Well Kotaku has a story saying that the adapter is on hold for now. Could Sony have pressured Nyko ... Read entire article

    More on Wired

    March 29th, 2007

Yesterday was an interesting day to say the least with the storm of activity around the Wired Article.   Folks saw first hand a briefing document that was leaked accidentally by a Microsoft employee and had a view inside the relationship between public relations and a magazine reporter.

I wanted to highlight some of my favorite commentary from the blogs around the story to give some further insight and perspective.

Charles Fitzgerald - What transpired with Wired
Frank Shaw - Radical Transparency Briefing
Jon Udell - In by the barrell

      FIRST LOOK: Dish ViP722 Receiver!

      March 28th, 2007
SatelliteGuys.US is proud to give you another first look, this time at the upcoming Dish ViP722 High Definition DVR.

The 722 was supposed to be just a newer version of the 622 with a larger hard drive and Microsoft VC1 support. However I am thinking that after many here on SatelliteGuys would exchange their 622 via warranty or DHPP in the hopes they would get a new improved Dish 622. Dish got smart and made it a new receiver model and a different color (this time in black)

While VC1 is not mentioned ...

Wired Magazine Article on Channel 9

      March 28th, 2007

It was last fall that Chris Anderson invited me over to Wired Magazine for lunch “Condé Nast Style” (they have a private chef) and it was all pretty cool.  Chris gave me a personal tour of the facilities and told me all sorts of stories behind the history of Wired Magazine.  I would be lying if I didn’t say that this was a bit of a thrill for me.    In the tour I saw where Apache Server was coded, a wall crowned with every cover of the magazine and a view of their future through the new Read entire article
